BNU Dance Competition is the annual dance competition that takes place every February and gives University teams the opportunity to compete against each other in their chosen categories.
The categories are: (novice and advanced skill levels)
- Ballet
- Contemporary
- Jazz
- Tap
- Street
- Wildcard
Wild Card: Universities can submit up to two dances in this classification and it can be any style and any skill level. The rules that are applied to separate novice and advanced routines do not apply in the Wildcard category therefore, disqualification can only occur if a routine placed in wildcard had no exceptions from being in its assigned style classification.
BNU Dance Competition is always a sold out event, the amount of team spirit from all universities and their supporters creates an incredible atmosphere. This event is never one to miss, from the prestigious line up of judges who watch and score every team throughout the day and award the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in every category.
Last year’s panel included, examiners from the IDTA, current dancers on the West End and choreographers of the world renowned Boy Blue Entertainment. This year may even include workshops and performances from the special guest judges!
To the amount of talent displayed on the day; universities cherish some of the most talented dancers and competitions like this is where you can see them. Whether it’s: volunteering hours you require, a show you’d like to watch, a family friendly day out or a chance to embrace the industry… BNU Dance Competition has it all.
