Today we will be making sure everything is ship shape and make sure that the train station garden is a welcoming and attractive space for visitors to High Wycombe - especially the pollinators!

Expect weeding, watering and there will also be litter picking and general tidying so plenty for everyone to get involved with. We really hope to see you there!

A morning spent clearing the river Wye of rubbish to help make it a better home for wildlife. We will be concentrating on 3 sections of the river around Fire Station/Theatre, Police Station & Council Offices.

The 1-Day Emergency First Aid at Work training for the EFAW qualification equips you with basic life-saving first aid skills, as well as an understanding of workplace health and safety regulations. This FAIB accredited emergency first aid course is recognised by SIA.

This course complies with Health and Safety (first aid) Regulations 1981 and updates learners of any change in practice and guidelines.

Modules Breakdown:

Minor cuts, grazes, splinters, and burns
Choking
Shock
Wounds and bleeding
Diabetes
Asthma
Strokes
Anaphylactic shock
Heart attacks and angina
Unconscious colleagues
AED (external defibrillator)
Illnesses
Bruises, sprains, strains
Scalds

The course will also educate employees on how to handle a wide range of specific work-related situations, as well as teaching them cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

EFAW Exams and Assessment:

Candidates will be assessed by their trainer throughout the day to ensure that all learning outcomes are achieved.
Successful learners will receive an FAIB-accredited emergency first aid at work qualification.

Entry Requirements:

There are no entry requirements for this emergency first aid at work course.
However, candidates must be physically able to carry out the procedures required to meet HSE assessment criteria

This session is part of NEST (Nottingham Employability & Skills Training): A new Bucks Students' Union initiative providing self and professional development opportunities for BNU Nottingham students.

In May 2024 we unveiled our new Operations area and Clinical Education space, part of an expansion of our existing HQ in Stokenchurch, Buckinghamshire.

The new facilities mean that, while our helicopter continues to fly from RAF Benson, our fleet of Critical Care Response Vehicles now operate from Stokenchurch. As well as bringing most of the crew and charity staff together under one roof, the newly expanded HQ brings our cars closer to vital road networks via the M40, ensuring speedy access to those in need.

The expanded HQ has state-of-the-art facilities and bespoke areas, designed with crew in mind. In our Operations area, there is a spacious kit room to re-pack after a callout and a wellbeing room, so that crew have a place to relax during a rare moment of downtime. For the first time ever, we have a dedicated space for Clinical Education. Here, critical care paramedics and doctors can train for all eventualities and practice complex procedures in realistic conditions.

Our 2026 Open Days are a unique opportunity to see 'behind the scenes' as well as finding out more about how the charity has evolved in it's 25-year history and how your support keeps us at the frontline of saving lives.

What is the course?

This course is for adults who want to build confidence when using a computer. It is designed for complete beginners or those who feel unsure about basic digital tasks. You will learn how to use a computer safely and comfortably so that everyday activities feel easier.

The course covers simple skills such as using a mouse and keyboard, opening programs, browsing the internet and sending emails. You will also learn how to keep your personal information safe online and how to solve common problems in a calm and practical way.

By the end of the course, you will feel more in control when using technology in daily life at home or at work.

This is a series of taster sessions into different areas of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). At the end of the 4 weeks, which ever discipline is the most popular will be continued for the remaining weeks of the year. This week is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with the other areas taking place on these days:

27^th October - BJJ (No-Gi)

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling martial art that focuses on technique rather than strength. In this session you will learn Takedowns, Escapes and Submissions. It is great for building confidence, problem solving skills and fitness.

Gi refers to a traditional uniform which will be provided for you.

This is a series of taster sessions into different areas of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). This last week is Kickboxing.

Kickboxing combines punches, kicks and footwork to create a fast-paced and effective striking martial art. You will learn stance and footwork, light technical sparring and physical conditioning. It is great for developing fitness, coordination, confidence and practical self-defence skills whilst teaching the fundamentals of stand-up fighting.

Found Festival began with a simple, slightly stubborn idea: some things are too good to let go. We're built on 60 years of festival-making — three generations of the same family, starting with a one-day garden party in 1965. When that story came to an end, we didn't want it to just stop. So we found a way to carry it forward.

What we've built is a 100% independent festival for just 2,000 people, on a beautiful patch of Buckinghamshire countryside. Three days. Live music blended with wellness, creativity, comedy and dance — all crafted into one weekend of pure joy.

As a volunteer you will work at least 4 hours a day across the weekend. You will recieve full festival weekend ticket including camping and car pass.

With 500m of racing line, including a unique ramp guaranteed to boost your adrenaline even further!

Please arrive at the entrance to Teamsport for 6:00pm. There is a safety breifing followed by two 15 minute sessions to get as many laps as possible as well as the coveted fastest lap of everyone.

This would normally cost cost you £34 however thanks to the Big Deal, everything we offer is free.

If product sales limit has been reached on the "SFF single session", grab yourself a "waiting list" ticket. If a space becomes available you will be contacted.

Access Requirements

Go karting is not recommended for drivers with heart problems, epilepsy or other conditions which may be affected by exertion. Any conditions that would prevent you from acquiring a driving licence would likely prevent you from being able to race.
Drivers racing must have an inside leg measurement (measured from the crotch to the base of the heel, whilst wearing shoes) of 29 inches or more.
We recommend a maximum height of 6’4” and a maximum weight of 18 stone.

Union Council is open to all students to attend and participate in as the highest form of representation at the Students’ Union. The Council is a platform that informs students about the changes to policies within the Union, and the opportunity to vote on University-wide issues and directs our lobbying approach.

Our four Full Time Elected Officers provide a monthly update on what they have been doing to improve the student experience based off your feedback and experiences. As well as getting your fresh ideas or concerns, as well as hearing everything you want from the union, and how we can improve your student experience.We will also be discussing the most important topics and areas you want us to focus on for the next few months, and how we can support you throughout the year.

Every council is themed after a topic. This month we are focusing on Money and Budgeting with a session from our Advice Centre.

Vice President Education and Welfare who is responsible for improving the educational and welfare experience of our members whilst they're studying at Buckinghamshire New University.
Vice President Student Affairs and Campus Experience who is responsible for the educational, wellbeing, and co-curricular experience of our members studying outside of the High Wycombe campus.

The Paramedicine Society have collaborated with the NHS to bring a donation point to BNU.

Why do we need you to give blood?

We need new blood donors from all backgrounds to ensure there is the right blood available for patients who need it.

We need:

4,300 blood donations every day on average to meet the needs of our hospitals
over 140,000 people to donate blood for the first time this year
12,000 new Black heritage donors, to meet the growing demand for ethnically matched blood for sickle cell patients who need regular transfusions to stay alive
more young people aged 17-35 to donate, to ensure we have enough blood for the future

In 1925, Lon Chaney terrified audiences with his signature ghoulish make-up as the murderous and mysterious Phantom, sparking the flame for endless adaptations, countless pop culture references, and a hit West End musical. Yet another adaptation is rumoured to be in production, with even Guillermo del Toro throwing his name in the hat following his 2025 film of that other misunderstood Universal Monster, Frankenstein.

But what is it about the story of an angry incel living in the bowels of the Paris Opera House that has kept public interest going for over a hundred years?

In this 3-hour session, we’ll dive into the origins of the story, tracking through time as the Phantom develops from genius madman to romantic Byronic hero, to vicious killer and back again.

Adaptations covered include Andrew Lloyd Webber, Joel Schumacher, Dario Argento, Brian de Palma and Terence Fisher to name just a few.

Masks and capes welcome, but please leave your noose at home.

Title: Studio Ghibli: A Spirited History

Date: 19th September 2026, Saturday

Time: 1pm - 4.15pm (including 15 minutes break)

Location: Broadway Cinema, 14-18 Broad Street, Nottingham, NG1 3AL

Description:

For forty years, Studio Ghibli has created some of the most beloved and influential films in world cinema, from My Neighbour Totoro and Princess Mononoke to Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, and beyond. This course traces the studio’s history from its 1980s beginnings through to Miyazaki’s recent The Boy and the Heron, exploring its recurring themes of ecology, pacifism, gender, childhood, and imagination. Along the way, we will reflect on the artistry, politics, and legacy of Ghibli’s work. The day will include opportunities for open discussion, as we consider how these films continue to inspire audiences and filmmakers around the globe.

Have you thought about giving Blood? Scared? Unsure if you can?

The Paramedicine Society have collaborated with the NHS to bring a donation point to BNU.

Why do we need you to give blood?

We need new blood donors from all backgrounds to ensure there is the right blood available for patients who need it.

We need:

4,300 blood donations every day on average to meet the needs of our hospitals
over 140,000 people to donate blood for the first time this year
12,000 new Black heritage donors, to meet the growing demand for ethnically matched blood for sickle cell patients who need regular transfusions to stay alive
more young people aged 17-35 to donate, to ensure we have enough blood for the future
