This year’s Interprofessional Learning (IPL) Conference will take place on Wednesday 13 May 2026.

Bucks Students Union and the Institute for Health and Social Care are pleased to invite all pre-registration Health and Social Care students to attend this engaging event. The programme will include a variety of speakers, practical training sessions, and interactive activities designed to support the development of key professional skills.

Peak District, Saturday, June 6th 2026 - A group of paramedic students from universities across the UK are joining forces to take on a physically demanding challenge in support of TASC, The Ambulance Staff Charity. The event will see participants carry response bags across Kinder Scout and Mam Tor to raise vital funds for ambulance staff in need.

The Kinder Scout Green Bag Challenge is set to be a test of endurance, teamwork, and resilience – qualities that are at the heart of the paramedic profession. The event will not only raise money for TASC’s mental health services, financial aid programs, and rehabilitation support but also shine a light on the physical and emotional challenges faced by ambulance personnel daily.

Bringing Paramedic Societies Together

While BNU Parasoc is the lead organiser, the challenge is a collaborative effort, with paramedic societies from multiple universities taking part. The initiative has also gained support from ambulance services, healthcare organisations, and student paramedics nationwide, demonstrating a united effort to give back to the ambulance community.

They will be given out near the Student Hub on the ground floor. Can't miss!

What?

The Free Breakfasts project derived from the cost-of-living campaign run by Bucks Students' Union to make sure you are fed and well. The campaign aims to tackle food poverty within the student community at BNU, supplying free breakfasts to students at the Nottingham campus on the first week of every month in the mornings.

All meals are vegetarian and halal.

Make sure to come quick, as there is limited supply!

You will also have a chance to grab our newsletter flyer on everything that's happening at Nottingham campus the following weeks!

Transport & Address: We will be working in the River Wye near to Barrowcroft. We will meet at the Chiltern Rangers depot at 2pm to get our waders on!

The depot address is Kingsmead Depot, 60 Fennels Road, High Wycombe, HP11 1SL. Unfortunately there isn't any free parking on Fennels Road, there is a pay and display car park right next door.

The Task:

We will be clearing the central channel of the river Wye by removing unwanted vegetation and litter that we find.

Timings (please note these timings are approximate):

14.00: Arrival for safety briefing, please don't be late!

14.15: Work begins

15.30: Tea & coffee break

17:00: Work finishes, time to go home!

What to Bring:

Please bring your gloves (we will have spares) and dress for the weather and the task.

Long trousers are advisable as there may be ticks and thorny vegetation. We also advise to bring spare clothes as we are working in the river.

We will supply waders and a buoyancy aid if necessary. Or feel free to bring your own waders and buoyancy aid if you have them.

Wear layers that you can remove if you get hot whilst working. Bring a waterproof as most of our sites have no shelter from the rain. If it's sunny bring a hat and suncream.

Please bring plenty of fluids, we will bring a tea kit and biscuits.

Join us for a power session at High Wycombe Train Station!

We're back for a quick afternoon session at High Wycombe Train Station. Helping to transform High Wycombe Train Station in partnership with Buckinghamshire New University and Chiltern Railways.

Meet us on site at the train station car park at 10am. Pay and display parking is available here. The nearest postcode is: HP13 6NN.

Please can we ask everyone to arrive on time to ensure you do not miss the health & safety and task briefing. If you are late and the session has already started, you may not be able to join. Thank you.

You don't need to print off your Eventbrite ticket!

The Task:

Today we will be making sure everything is ship shape and make sure that the train station garden is a welcoming and attractive space for visitors to High Wycombe - especially the pollinators!

Expect weeding, watering and there will also be litter picking and general tidying so plenty for everyone to get involved with. We really hope to see you there!

Handmade Baby Blankets for NICU Babies at Stoke Mandeville 💛

Supporting BURPS

We are creating soft, handmade baby blankets for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. These tiny babies often arrive earlier than expected and need extra warmth, comfort, and care during their first days.

All fabric is provided—you just need a little time, care, and a willingness to help. Each blanket will be carefully made and donated to support both babies and their families during what can be a very challenging time.

By taking part, you’re helping to bring comfort, reassurance, and a personal touch to families when they need it most. Every blanket becomes a small but meaningful gift of kindness.

If you’d like to get involved or want more details, please get in touch. Together, we can make a real difference—one blanket at a time.
