Location: Chalfont St Peter 

Chalfont Otters Swimming Club (COSC) is looking to recruit a dynamic, enthusiastic and committed coach to join their successful teaching and coaching team. COSC is affiliated to the Amateur Swimming Association and Swim England South East Region. Based in and around Chalfont St Peter the club has approximately 300 swimmers.

The successful candidate will join a team of coaches, teachers and volunteers who are constantly striving to move the club forward and who have seen some great results over the last two years: medal winners at county, regional and national level.

This is a great opportunity to coach in an exciting environment where a coach can also further their coaching skills and learn new skills regarding club management in a progressive environment.

About the Role

Accountable To: Head Coach

Responsible For: The Development and Competitive Squads

Qualifications: You should hold a minimum Level 1 coaching qualification but ideally Level 2, as well as teaching qualifications and have experience of working with swimmers at age group level. It is also desirable to have a first aid certificate and RLSS Rescue Test for Swimming Teachers and Coaches or NLPQ.

The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate a strong ability to coach the age group and master swimmers, motivating them and developing their swimming technique. You will be a self-starter, capable of creating new ideas and implementing them. You should have good communication skills and be comfortable communicating with swimmers, coaches and parents.

You will need to have a good understanding of long-term athlete development and actively demonstrate the willingness to learn and further develop yourself to ensure you remain at the forefront of professional coaching standards.

Main Duties:

  • Work as and when required at a variety of different venues, with different groups of swimmers to help them achieve the aims required following the club's teaching and coaching plan in a productive and efficient manner.
  • Attend coaches meetings, cover other squads and any other club activities as and when required.
  • Liaise with the coaching team regarding progression of development and pre competition swimmers.
  • Club administration.
  • Abide by all policies and codes as required by the club.
  • Ensure that you have copies of accident book available at all times.
  • Be aware and understand the facility emergency action plan and normal operating procedures (EAP and NOP) for all pools used.
  • To follow and promote the ASA Child Protection policy, ASA Code of Conduct for Swimmers, Teachers and Coaches and equity policies.
