£20,637.00 - £23,187.00 Grade D (plus discretionary Uxbridge allowance)

Hours

37.00 Full-time (based on a 37-hour working week, Monday to Thursday, 9am-5pm and Friday 9am-4:30pm) with the flexibility to occasionally work outside the core hours.

Main purpose of the job

The Student Engagement Co-ordinator will be required to assist the Student Experience Manager in delivering effective representation across the University and support a wide range of activities and services at our Uxbridge campus. You will be the primary staff contact on this campus for general enquiries and as such will need to be knowledgeable about the entire breadth of the Union’s offer from representation and advice through to volunteering, events and sport. The post holder will also be responsible for developing key relationships with University staff in order that students are represented effectively and get the most from our unique offer. Finally, as Student Engagement Co-ordinator, you will need to work collaboratively with a wide range of Union staff.

Whilst this role encompasses a broad spectrum of activity, applicants should be advised that the majority of their time will be spent working on student representation with the post holder responsible for students attached to the Faculty of Society and Health. You will also assist the Student Experience Manager on our engagement work with collaborative partners and as such, will need to support students based at the High Wycombe campus and our partner colleges as well.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Representation

  • Assisting the Student Experience Manager in coordinating and rolling out the Student Rep Scheme.
  • Building effective working relationships with key University staff at the Uxbridge Campus so as to further our strategic objectives.
  • Devising and implementing innovative mechanisms that provide accessible feedback channels for all students including those studying part-time and online.
  • Ensuring all student rep feedback is completed to agreed standards and submitted in a timely fashion.
  • Analysing student feedback that has been gathered through a variety of mediums ensuring this is fed into appropriate Union and University Committees.
  • Promoting the Student Rep Scheme on all university campuses and with our collaborative partners.
  • Collecting and collating all student rep names and contact details, ensuring the Students’ Union can communicate with every representative effectively.
  • Liaising with students over the process for nomination and election as a student rep
  • Liaising with Faculty staff to gather meeting dates and papers and then distributing them to the appropriate student reps.
  • Helping to maintain current and topical information on the Student Rep Scheme and other feedback initiatives in a variety of media.
  • Helping to construct and disseminate appropriate and timely briefings for Student Reps
  • Providing meeting support for appropriate Union committees.
  • Helping with the coordination and delivery of student rep training.
  • Supporting the Student Experience Manager and Membership Services Manager in the running of Union Elections throughout the course of each year.

Outreach Work

  • Supporting the Student Experience Manager in maintaining a network of key relationships with link staff in our partner institutions in order to promote our services and offer support to Bucks students studying off-campus.
  • Where appropriate visiting hospital trusts to support our nursing students in their place of work.

Events and Recreation

  • Support and promote the delivery of on-campus and off-site recreational activities and events.
  • Support the Communications Department in maintaining up to date media on campus.
  • Work with the Volunteering and Societies Coordinator to organise, promote and support opportunities.
  • Work with the Union’s HR Manager to ensure additional skills sessions are actively promoted to students at the Uxbridge campus.
  • Gather student feedback in order to evaluate activities, opportunities and services and inform strategic planning across the Union.

Additional Duties

  • To contribute to the aims of the Union supporting other staff and departments, working on cross departmental projects and from time to time helping out where required to ensure the Students’ Union fulfils its mission.
  • To take a full and active part in the Unions environmental initiatives with particular regard to taking personal responsibility for recycling and energy conservation.
  • The post holder maybe required to work unsociable hours and weekends when required.
