Part-time Barista

Based at: BNU High Wycombe Campus – The Garden Café and new refectory when open

Hours: Up to 20 per week, weekend working required

 

Job Purpose

To provide a friendly, warm and knowledgeable service to all customers. Be knowledgeable about all areas of coffee, including the bean varieties we have on offer, the types of drink available, promotions and offers. To work as directed to prepare food service and dining areas in an attractive manner in line with the client requirements and to accurately manage cash transactions.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities Food Service

• Prepare and serve all beverages in a timely manner and to the CH&CO standard.

• To prepare service counters as required for service in line with CH&CO standards and to ensure the availability of product during all service periods.

• To ensure that service counters and dining areas display appropriate merchandising under the guidance of the General Manager/ Chef Manager and ensure that all products are correctly priced, labelled and in date.

• Serve all food to the highest standard and in line with the CH&CO style using the correct tools and presentation techniques.

• Assist in the preparation of tables and to ensure all cutlery and glassware is polished.

• To assist with any food preparation in kitchen to the CH&CO standard as required.

• Keep the service areas clean, tidy and presentable in line with the CH&CO standards.

• Clean and wash up equipment, kitchen and service areas as necessary to comply with cleaning schedules.

• Where necessary to clean and replenish vending machines with change and product and deal with minor vending issues and report any vending problems that cannot be resolved to the Catering / Chef Manager. Customer Service

• Present and maintain a professional and friendly image with the client and customers at all times.

• Attend to customer needs in a polite and helpful manner providing assistance where necessary in line with the CH&CO style.

• Provide information to customers about the food in a knowledgeable and informed manner.

• Work with all colleagues in a polite and helpful way to ensure excellent customer service.

• To accurately and efficiently handle all transactions and to assist with cashing up procedures in line with CH&CO standards.

• To take responsibility for all monies in the till and to keep all monies and secure. Health & Safety

• To understand and comply with CH&CO and statutory health, hygiene and safety, quality standards including COSHH and HACCP ensuring all tasks are carried out in accordance these standards and to work in a safe and tidy manner at all times.

• Wear the correct uniform and safety shoes as directed and maintain uniform items appropriately.

• Report any equipment and/or building fabric faults and any hygiene, health and safety hazard to the General Manager.

 

Occasional Responsibilities

• Assist in stock take as directed.

• To attend training courses and attend CH&CO meetings when necessary.
