How we are run

You are here:

Students’ unions are complex organisations and Bucks Students’ Union is no different.

Our elected sabbatical officers are responsible for leading the organisation, overseeing strategy and making the big decisions. In doing so they are supported by employed senior managers who run the organisation on a day-to-day basis and are complemented by a wide range of skilled staff whose expertise ensures we are able to effectively deliver our wide range of services.

We also have a Union Council, made up of current students, who act as a sounding board for new ideas, potential University policies and who provide us with vital feedback about the Union.

We are a registered charity and as such have a Trustee Board, made up of students, sabbatical officers and external volunteers who dedicate time, knowledge and expertise to ensure we are operating in the best interest of our members (all students at Bucks) and within the law.

Our Constitution and Bye-Laws provide the framework for the way we operate and detail important process such as elections, the parameters of membership and rules governing clubs and societies. It is these documents that guide the trustees in their work and allow students to hold the organisation to account.

In addition to these formal documents we have a wide range of handbooks, guidance and forms to provide even more detailed information for members wanting to get the most out of their time with the Union.

We also have a committee structure which enables our members, officers and staff to come together and plan our activity, ensuring that we remain on course and evaluate our work.

The ‘Your Union’ section of our website is designed to bring together all of this information in one place. So that our members, trustees, officers and staff can find the information and tools they need to operate effectively.
