Thanks to our close links with the NHS, Bucks can offer you a wide choice of clinical experiences in different health settings, depending on the course you are on and where your interests lie. We offer placements over a large geographical area in the north, west and central London (adult, children’s and mental health), Buckinghamshire and Berkshire (children’s).
You will be allocated a ‘home base’, which will be at one of the major hospitals in the region. This is where you’ll complete most of your clinical experience (although if you’re studying children’s or mental health nursing, you’ll work throughout the whole NHS region to gain a broad range of experiences).

Additional information regarding transport
- Campus Link - There is a free, door-to-door bus service for students and staff between the High Wycombe and Uxbridge Campuses (with a valid Bucks New University ID card). This year we have acquired a higher spec bus, with more seats and free Wi-Fi. Please note that there is no bus service on weekends or bank holidays. - London travel cards - Full-Time Students are eligible for an 18+ student Oyster card. These can save you 30% off weekly and monthly travel cards on all London transport. These cards are a must if you are regularly travelling through London. To get a card you need to apply online at https://tfl.gov.uk/fares-and-payments/adult-discounts-and-concessions/18-student. Unfortunately, Part-Time students are not eligible for this scheme.
