At Bucks we have a range of student leadership positions for you to get involved in, and make the most of your University experience. Who knows, you may end up running in the #BSUElections to become one of our four full-time, paid Sabbatical Officer positions: President, Vice President Student Involvement, and two Vice Presidents Education and Welfare.
Executive Officers
Our eight part-time, Executive Officer positions are divided into two categories, with four available positions. The first category is based on how you define: BAME Students' Executive Officer, LGBTQ+ Students’ Executive Officer, Women Students’ Executive Officer and Students with Disabilities' Executive Officer. Students interested in these areas need to self-define before standing or voting.
The second category is determined by your mode of entry to the University. The four positions are: International Students' Executive Officer, Mature Students’ Executive Officer, Postgraduate Students’ Executive Officer, and Part-Time and Commuting Students’ Executive Officer.
School Officers
We have at least one School Officer for each of the seven Schools. School Officer is employed to assist the Representation team in a range of tasks within their relevant school. School Officers take on more responsibilities including attending Education Forum, RepCon Planning and several other meetings, as well as communicating with Student Reps on a regular basis.
Student Trustee
Student Trustees are a unique opportunity to be part of the team driving the strategic direction of the Union by sitting on our Trustee Board. As a registered charity aiming to improve the education of students at BNU, the Trustee Board has final sign-off on the Union’s biggest plans.
Working alongside our four Sabbatical Officer Trustees and External (Lay) Trustees, Student Trustees will ensure that we meet our objectives and continue to operate responsibly in the best interest of our members.
NUS Delegate
Our NUS Delegates represent Bucks Students’ Union at the National Union of Students (NUS) National Conference. The role of NUS Delegates includes:
- Representing BNU students on issues at the NUS Conference.
- Engaging with the national student movement and future direction of Higher Education.
- Voting in the NUS elections on behalf of our members.
If you’d like to receive more information about any of the above roles, simply email surepresentation@bnu.ac.uk and a member of staff from the Representation team will be able to provide more information.
