Dear Evan Hansen tells the story of Evan Hansen, a socially anxious high school student who becomes entangled in a lie after the death of a classmate, Connor Murphy. When a letter Evan wrote to himself is mistaken for Connor's suicide note, Evan is inadvertently pulled into the grieving family's life. He fabricates a friendship with Connor to offer them comfort, leading to unexpected consequences as the lie spirals out of control.
