Bucks Students' Union represents and supports over 9,000 students who study at Buckinghamshire New University. Enrolling on a course at Buckinghamshire New University automatically makes you a member of Bucks Students’ Union. You don’t need to join and there are no fees involved, but membership gives you access to the vast range of services that we offer - all for free. But most importantly, membership gives you the possibility to influence the way the University is run.

Our elected Sabbatical Officers are responsible for leading the organisation, overseeing strategy and making the big decisions. They are supported by employed senior managers who run the organisation on a day-to-day basis and are complemented by a wide range of skilled staff whose expertise ensures we are able to effectively deliver our wide range of services. You have the opportunity to vote and even stand in our annual elections, where you can run to be a Student Leader.

As a member, you can attend Union Council which acts as a sounding board for new ideas, potential University policies and provides us with vital feedback about the Union.

As a registered charity, we have a Trustee Board, made up of students, Sabbatical Officers and external volunteers who ensure we are operating in the best interest of our members (all students at BNU) and within the law. Our Constitution and Bye-Laws provide the framework for the way we operate, guide the trustees in their work, and allow students to hold the organisation to account.

We believe in putting our members first, and as part of our exclusive Big Deal package, we are the only university in the UK to offer our members free access to such a diverse and exciting range of activities, allowing them to experience new things, socialise with broader groups of people and boost their employability- all to enrich your university experience.

From our sports clubs to our night time events, day trips and skills workshops, all of our free opportunities are available to every single member no matter how you study. This includes our international, part-time and mature students, as well as students studying at partner colleges.

You can have a read of our Strategic Plan which is built on the successes we have seen since 2016. We truly feel the plan is leading us to become a more dynamic organisation that is able to inspire our members whilst tenaciously representing students at Buckinghamshire New University.

If you think there’s something we should be doing, or would like to suggest ways we could do things differently feel free to get in touch at union@bucks.ac.uk
