View this year's STRIVE programme to start getting a boost on your employability!
STRIVE Festival was launched in 2020 with the aim to support our members in reaching their career goals. Our festival is the perfect opportunity to improve your employability skills and expand your network in a week filled with activities designed to help you succeed.
It is never too early to start thinking about your career so whether you're in your first or final year, STRIVE Festival is an event you won't want to miss.
This year, STRIVE Festival will be running from Monday 20 to Friday 24 March. Designed to meet all your career needs, this will be your opportunity to improve your employability skills by attending our dedicated workshops, networking with local employers and hearing from academics and successful leaders on how to overcome barriers and succeed in the workplace.
There will be opportunities throughout the week for you to win some of the prizes we have on offer, not to mention the free food and drinks at our closing networking session on Friday 24 March.
Career and Placement Opportunities
We are excited to be hosting a number of local and national employers at our event who will be available for you to find out more about their organisation and what it would be like to work for them. They might even be advertising upcoming jobs you can apply for
We will be working directly with your course teams to try and ensure that there are relevant opportunities available to all of our members. Course team staff and the BNU Careers team will also be attending to give you tips and advice on taking your next steps after leaving university.
Work Experience
There will be a number of charities at the event, with volunteering opportunities on offer to help you gain some industry experience, boost your volunteering hours and enhance your CV. Volunteering is also a great opportunity to do some good and get involved in something that you believe in.
Networking
STRIVE Festival is a fantastic way for you to practice your key networking skills as you meet university and Students’ Union staff, other students, as well as the employers attending the event. This really is a great opportunity to build your contact base and find out a bit more about options available to you when you leave university. You're next LinkedIn connection might just be the one you need to get your foot in the door.
Workshops
This year you'll also have the chance to attend some really amazing workshops from industry leaders who will be sharing their experience, letting you in on their best tips, and answering your questions. Session details will be announced soon.
Time for you to ask
We will be hosting Q&A panels and Instagram takeovers with BNU alumni so you will have the opportunity to get a true insight into the industry of your choice.
If you have any questions about the event or would like any further information or a chat about what sessions may be most relevant to you, please email sutraining@bnu.ac.uk.
