We look at the components of gesture drawing: line of action, shape, silhouette, space, and exaggeration.
To develop our hand and eye skills, really looking at the model, we will integrate warm-ups with flying blind (blind contour); force drawing ; and anatomy through rough skeleton sketches and one lesson in more in-depth look at and bone and muscle structure.
Mark making is an important way to communicate the gesture in a variety of mediums (ink - brush, stick, ink wash (charcoal, working with additive and subtractive techniques) and graphite (soft, hard). As these are Zoom sessions, materials will be up to what you have, though I am happy to offer suggestions.
