Job Description: PR and Marketing Assistant (Intern)

Unique Vacations UK Ltd. (sales and marketing representatives of Sandals and Beaches Resorts)

 

Role Purpose: This is a rare opportunity to spend a year as a core member of an in-house PR and marketing team representing luxury Caribbean travel brands, Sandals Resorts and Beaches Resorts. The successful candidate will be a highly organised and confident individual who is eager to learn and uses their initiative. A keen interest in travel and the PR and marketing industry is essential.

Reporting to: Senior PR Executive

Managing: No direct reports

Location: Hybrid working model: working from home three days a week, based in the office in St James’s Park, London, two days a week. Must be based within two-hours of London. Usual office days are Wednesday and Thursdays, but this may change depending on meetings and events.

Hours: 9.00 am – 5.30 pm Monday to Friday but may sometimes be required to attend events and/or host press trips that fall outside of these hours. No overtime will be paid.

Salary: Up to £24,000 per annum, depending on age

Placement duration:  September 2026 – end of August 2027 (dates negotiable)

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

Press office and marketing:

  • Writing and updating press and marketing materials including fact sheets, boiler plates, copy and quotes.
  • Responding to media requests quickly and accurately with guidance from the PR department.
  • Proactively seeking out new opportunities for positive exposure for the Sandals and Beaches Resorts brands and in-house tour operator, Unique Caribbean Holidays Ltd. (UCHL) in consumer and trade media titles.
  • Pitching story ideas to media contacts, selling in and following up where appropriate to ensure maximum results.
  • Monitoring trade forward features lists and pitching ideas to journalists.
  • Creating and managing press office calendars/plans to ensure regular flow of information for media, capitalising on the news agenda and key dates/events where possible.
  • Attending meetings, networking events and award ceremonies, building up a ‘little black book’ of contacts including journalists, agents, celebrities, influencers, airline/tourist board/tour operator PRs.
  • Liaising regularly with key journalists from trade and consumer media outlets to ensure the brands remain front of mind.
  • Acting as an ambassador for the brands, keeping up to date with the latest product developments and news, and promoting them whenever possible.
  • Organising and hosting press trips with assistance from the Senior PR Executive from start to finish, including the preparation of documentation for the media and for the resort teams, searching for room availability and requesting rooms, holding flight seats for attending media.
  • Playing a key role in organising broadcast shoots and photoshoots.
  • Playing a key role in event preparation and organisation including drafting briefing notes and media profiles for key stakeholders.
  • Coordinating and writing award entries for the business.
  • Drafting and amending contractual agreements with celebrities, influencers and other partners, ensuring compliance with GDPR regulations.
  • Assist the UVUK social team to identify, assess and select content creators and influencers with a good brand fit for the Sandals and Beaches Resort brands, either directly or via partner social agencies.
  • Assist the UVUK social team in creating engaging and reactive content for the brand channels.
  • Work with the UVUK marketing team to identify and select brands to develop partnerships aimed at targeting key demographics and increasing brand awareness and understanding in the UK.
  • Assist the marketing team with copywriting tasks, including content for email, social, magazine and other marketing materials.
  • Support the marketing team with other project-based activity on an ad hoc basis.

 

Administration:

  • Daily logging, monitoring and evaluating of media and social coverage.
  • Completing and coordinating weekly and monthly reports for the UK and European markets.
  • Sharing information and news updates with the UK and European teams when relevant.
  • Playing a key role in bi-weekly calls with the European PR teams, alongside the PR Manager.
  • Evaluating opportunities and campaigns for the European market and managing the day-to-day output of the teams alongside the rest of the PR team.
  • Work with the rest of the PR team to develop strategy, campaign plans and annual PR plans for the UK and Europe, in line with objectives and company values.
  • Regularly updating media lists and stakeholder contact databases, building new media lists for specific campaigns when needed.
  • Assisting with monitoring media coverage and social media channels during a crisis, logging negative coverage.

  • Languages are a bonus, particularly Italian or German
  • Must be willing and able to travel overseas and hold a valid passport
