Event Security

Working within our venue is no ordinary part-time job and as a member of the team you will be expected to be an ambassador for the Students’ Union. We aim to make life better for students at Bucks and you will be the face of Bucks Students’ Union at our events.

A varied and interesting role, you will work closely with other security and venue staff ensuring the delivery of our duty of care to all customers.

Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Acting as an information point for guests.
  2. Helping set up and pack down the venue during events.
  3. Acting as first aider during events.
  4. Ensuring the general safety of the guests, staff, venue managers and any volunteers in the Venue. 
  5. Working as a team both with other event security, front door security and stewards, providing mutual support and trust in carrying out duties.
  6. Protecting the fabric and fittings of the premises and ensure security of equipment and stock.
  7. Keeping the premises clean, tidy and free from spillages or other hazards before, during and after opening hours.
  8. Ensuring the venue is secure at the end of the night.
  9. Understanding, following and carrying out Venue policies correctly and professionally.
  10. Observe and work within licensing, health and safety, hygiene and other regulations pertaining to the operation of the premises.

 

Using SIA qualified training and experience to deliver the best service possible in sometimes difficult and at times testing situations. The training you have had in your qualification should always assist you in the way you attend and deal with a situation, however you will also receive adequate training in regards to this venue, its customers and what is expected from Students’ Union event security. A successful candidate for this role would need to:

  1. Hold an SIA approved licence (enquire for sponsorship opportunities).
  2. Be observant and aware of events and to prevent potential problems whenever possible.
  3. Separate and diffuse difficult situations, as outlined in your SIA training and further internal venue training.
  4. To monitor and encourage appropriate standards of behaviour.
  5. Employ verbal persuasion, tact and diplomacy whenever possible.

 

Standards required

  1. The post holder should have a good understanding of Bucks Students’ Union mission statement.
  2. The post holder will need to act in a polite, courteous and helpful manner. At all times he/she will be concerned with ensuring that customers are satisfied with the service received.
  3. The post holder will present themselves for work clean and tidy, wearing the stipulated uniform which will be clean and ironed.
  4. The post holder will display the highest standards of integrity and honesty at all times.
  5. The post holder will observe high standards of punctuality.
