Another cup bites the dust

This week we saw our teams head into a week of BUCS fixtures consiting of cup games. We only had four teams represent Bucks this week with some nail biting results.

Men’s Football 1st team kicked off the day playing away against Queen Mary’s – pulling up from the Bucks FC 2nd team the 1st team were able to secure a comfortable 3-1 win, progressing them onto the next round of the cup on Wednesday 9 February 2022 against UCL Men’s 4th team at home.

The undefeated Bucks FC 2nd team Captain, Mo Yasin, couldn’t keep his title this week for the first time this season as the second team lost their first game. 90 minutes just wasn’t enough as they ended with a 1 all draw but, with it being a cup game there has to be a result. This meant the game went straight to penalties and as daylight wasn’t on our side, the nerves of penalties were too much and Brunel took the lead. A gut renching result as Brunel progress into the cup and our Bucks FC 2nd team are out.

Netball 1st team made their way to Imperial for their cup fixture and the girls were on top form, running away with a 64-36 win.

Men’s basketball were playing off the back of a great win over Portsmouth 2nd team last week however, their next game in the cup was against the Portsmouth 1st team. With a step up in the teams, this week wasn’t for the week for our boys and with a high scoring game the boys are now out of the cup after losing 86-75.

In rather exciting news, futsal are now at the top of their league having played away against Queen Mary’s on Sunday remaining undefeated with a 16-3 win.

Currently the teams left in the BUCS Cup tournaments are: Bucks FC 1st team, netball 1st and 2nd team, and our women's hockey team.
