This International Men's Day is focusing on the theme of Leading by Example and as part of Movember, we have asked you to share a bit about a male role model in your life. It's been fantastic sharing your role models over on our Instagram stories but now we want to share a story from your Movember Ambassador, Maya Jones, about her role model.
As part of International Men’s Day I was asked to write about my male role model and this person instantly popped into my head.
When I was 8 months old my birth father had the choice whether he wanted to continue his care for me or leave. He chose to leave. After my mum struggling for a couple years and having to move back in with my nan, you came along. You stepped up straight away and became the father figure I needed. By the time I was 5 we went to the court house and you adopted me. This is the person I now call my dad. Without my dad in my life I don’t think I would be where I am today. He has helped me every step of the way and helped raise me to the become the person I am today. I am so fortunate that my mum had met someone like him as he is the most loving person to be around. I am now following in his footsteps and becoming a personal trainer which I would never of imagined myself doing.
