Bucks Basketball is one of the top competing sports clubs in Buckinghamshire New University. They all compete in the British University College Sports League (BUCS).

Unfortunately a lot of our Bucks Men’s 1st team’s players have graduated this past year, although there are still a few men’s players left that are extremely hardworking and passionate about their sport! As a committee and team, we are hoping to gain as many new players as possible and, therefore increase attendance numbers and keep the already strong work and enthusiasm within the team!

Our Bucks Women's 1st team are in the first division of the South-Eastern conference for the second year in row. This team is one of the most successful teams we have at Bucks, having earned ’Team of the Year’ award for three consecutive years from 2016-2018 and nominated for the award in 2019. They have won the South-Eastern Conference Cup Final 2 years in a row before losing the Cup in 2017-18 and coming in second place this past 2018-2019 year. They are friendly, hardworking and a strong team who enjoy practicing as well as playing all together and are hoping to get as many passionate and enthusiastic players as they can.
Their main aims this year, apart from gaining as many players and playing as hard as they can, is to try and remain in first division and run activities (socials, take over, RAG, etc.) to keep the team united and enjoy time with each other and other sports / societies within the university.

We encourage anyone who wants to be part of our sport club, anyone who wants to be pushed to the best of their abilities and also gain skills in a fun and competitive sport to come along and join us in this coming season. Any abilities are welcome to join.

Keep a look out for our try outs and our training sessions around the university or, see our posts and notifications and feel free to contact us on email / social media pages, all shown below.

Vanessa Ndlovu

Captain 2014 - 2015

Being a captain for Bucks Ladies Basketball was a great experience. Working with dedicated and passionate individuals was absolutely amazing. We managed to grow and improve together as a team and that was the main thing that made me very proud to be a captain. When we lost, we lost together as a team and when we won, we won together as a team! I tried everything I could to improve the team's stamina and strengths; constant running, exercise and extra training hours. In the end it was all worth it and I am very much honoured to have had the chance to be a captain. I wish the next captain the best (Yamna) and good luck to the team!! Go hard, or go home!

Assistant Coach 2014+

When we first arrived I was not expecting much from the girls considering the results of previous games. However, after seeing what they could do in the first training session i could see they were not as bad as I was lead to believe. Yes they needed and still need a lot of work but that was due to the lack of reliable coaching. Even though we have only been coaching the girls for a few weeks, I'm proud at the passion and commitment they have shown and the willingness to learn and get better, even with the negativity surrounding their team. It's been an enjoyable experience to say the least and I look forward to coaching them for a full season next time around.
