We’ve all been guilty of putting things down toilets or drains that don’t belong there—from sanitary products to oils and wipes. These habits cause what we call “Drain Crimes.”

The good news? You can easily break free from these crimes. By making a few simple changes, you’ll help keep pipes clear and avoid costly blockages.

The 3P Rule

Only these three things should ever go down the toilet:

  • Poop
  • Pee
  • Paper

Everything else should go in the bin. That means:

  • Sanitary products → Always use a bin or sanitary bin.
  • “Flushable” wipes → Despite the label, they don’t biodegrade. Place them in the bin along with baby wipes and makeup wipes.
  • Hair → Hair tangles with oils, fats, and wipes to form major blockages. When brushing or washing your hair, collect it and bin it—never rinse it down the drain.

By sticking to the 3P rule and binning the rest, you’ll protect your drains, avoid plumbing disasters, and do your part for a healthier environment.
