There’s more to university than just your time in the classroom. It’s the time to form friendships that last a lifetime, grow your confidence and enhance your skills through new experiences.
BNU is the only university in the UK to offer FREE access to a huge range of activities and opportunities to enrich your time with us. We call this The Big Deal!
The Big Deal gives you FREE access not only to our Students’ Union’s events and entertainment, but a huge range of competitive and recreational sport; skill workshops, CV building activities and of course our societies.
The Big Deal is designed to encourage all our members to try different activities, make new friends, and to join in with the BNU community, all completely free. We are grateful for the support and funding from the University to make The Big Deal possible.
Events
Our gigs club nights, themed parties and entertainment, are totally free for BNU students. There’s something for everyone with events at BNU on 7 days a week.
Competitive Sports
The Athletic Union (AU) provides the opportunity to play competitive sport against other universities in a variety of national leagues - both in team and individual sports. We also provide the opportunity to compete In our annual Varsity fixture.
Sport for Fun
This is your opportunity to get involved in a range of sports and fitness activities without the commitment of weekly training. If you enjoy getting active, having fun, and meeting new people, Sports for Fun is for you.
Societies
Societies can help build a sense of belonging by meeting up with a group of like minded individuals who share a common interest or hobby. Learn new cultures, try out something new. Have a great idea for a society? Then we’ll provide you with all the help to set up your own.
Recreational Activities
From one-off classes and taster sessions to guest speakers and demonstrations, we’ve had everything from singing lessons, theatre trips, paint balling, to jewellery making, plus a whole lot more!
Additional Skills Training
Every year, we expand our programme of training sessions to cover topics that you have asked or that complement your university studies. Our development programme gives you the opportunity to enhance transferable skills.
Reps
We recruit and train nearly 250 student reps to represent your views by carrying forward any thoughts and concerns you may have regarding your education. Want to become a rep? Head over to bucksstudentsunion.org/yourvoice to find out how
