Title: Public Speaking Fundamentals

Description: 

Wish to improve your public speaking skills and effective communication? This hands-on interactive session will help you build confidence and speak with impact.
Facilitated by Archana Vijai Kumar.

Session content:

  • Understanding audience engagement
  • Managing nerves and building confidence
  • Using your voice, pace, and body language effectively

Session structure:

  1. Introduction and icebreaker activity
  2. Teaching of key public speaking principles
  3. Demonstration of effective and ineffective speaking techniques
  4. Guided practice activities
  5. Individual and group feedback
  6. Reflection and key takeaways

Each attendee will have the opportunity to put their skills into practice with a short 2-minute talk at the end of the session.

 

This session is part of NEST (Nottingham Employability & Skills Training): A new Bucks Students' Union initiative providing self and professional development opportunities for BNU Nottingham students.

 

Who can attend:
This session is open to all BNU Nottingham students. You don't need to have classes on campus that day to attend. If you do have scheduled classes during the session, you'll be excused and this won't affect your attendance record.
