Level 3 Certificate in Hospitality Business Management

On successful completion of the three core units, learners will achieve the Level 3 Award in Hospitality Business Management. Successful completion of an additional four of the nine optional units will lead to the achievement of the British Institute of Innkeeping Awarding Body (BIIAB) Level 3 Certificate in Hospitality Business Management.

Guided learning hours: Each unit lasts 1.5 hours

Learning outcomes:

Unit 1: Understanding a business market – aims to help learners establish a marketable vision for their business. By understanding how to apply a range of market techniques, learners will be able to identify potential customer groups and clearly define those customers’ needs in order to create an appropriate offer for their business

Unit 2: Profit, loss and budget control – aims to demystify profit and loss accounting, financial terminology, how to construct profit and loss budgets, and monitor performance. It also shows how to plan and budget effectively, improve management controls in order to increase profitability, and improve negotiating power with line managers, external clients and accountants.

Unit 3: Motivating a team in business – aims to help learners apply motivational theory and develop an understanding of how to build and lead an effective team. The unit shows learners how staff performance can be improved by understanding more about their own style of management, and how they are perceived by employees.
