This week got off to a great start over the weekend. American Football managed to get their first League win of the season. The team consisted of 17 players, meaning there were only 6 substitutes and most people had to play both offence and defence. UCL had twice as many players and Bucks dominated them from start to finish.
The Futsal team received an automatic walkover win because Chichester were a no-show, so they advance to the next round of the Cup. They play University of Derby on 4 December.
Both Netball 1sts and Women’s Football had rescheduled Cup matches from the previous week. Unfortunately, both teams lost their matches, but they played brilliantly. The Netball match was incredibly close, so it was a shame for the girls to be knocked out of the Cup.
The matches for the last 16 of the South Eastern Conference Cup were played on Wednesday. Five out of our six playing teams had their respective Cup matches. Unfortunately, Rugby 1sts and Rugby 2nds lost their matches.
On a brighter note, Men’s Volleyball won their away match at Canterbury Christ Church 3-1, and Golf managed to out-perform Bath University to win 4-2. Men’s Football 1sts won their home match at Shelley Road 3-2, meaning they advance to the Quarter Finals of the SE Conference Cup, due to be played in February. Thank you to everybody who went along to show their support!
This week’s biggest goal difference goes to Women’s Basketball - they beat Essex 84-37, meaning they also make it through to the Quarter Finals of the Cup. So far the girls are unbeaten in the 2016/17 season.
Due to the fact that they play in the Premier League and struggle to recruit new players, Team of the Week has been awarded to Golf. This was their first win of the season. Well done boys!
