This Wednesday we had a total of 13 BUCS matches played.
The day started off with unfortunate losses for Men's Badminton against tough opponents Reading, and Netball 2nd against Surrey.
Things started to look up as Men's Football 1st and 2nd took to the pitch. In front of a home crowd, the 1st had a comfortable 3-0 victory against Royal Holloway and the 2nd smashed Chichester 4-1. Despite a good effort, the Men's Football 4th and 5th suffered a defeat at the hands of Middlesex and Imperial respectively.
Men's Hockey had their biggest squad of the season to date, thanks to Ryan Morrell, Will Thompson and Dan Stevenson. Although they didn't manage to come away with a victory, they defended superbly to finish just 0-3 to Portsmouth.
However, the best story of the day has to come from Women's Basketball and Netball 1st. Women's Basketball were struggling for numbers, and had considered postponing their game at Portsmouth. Luckily the Netballers were also playing away at Portsmouth on Wednesday. What was meant to be a pre-game training session of 5 players on Tuesday night turned into a session of 20 players thanks to the Netballers!
They all travelled to their away games together, and the Basketball girls provided some great cheerleading from the sidelines. After a quick change and a dash to the next venue, the Netball 1st helped the Basketballers storm to a 67-54 victory! We have named Netball 1st as our Team Of The Week!
The Students' Union is so proud of all of you. In the words of Ashleigh Paviour:
