This week Bucks had 6 Wednesday fixtures; a relatively quiet week in the build up to Varsity.
The Men's Football 4ths unfortunately lost against tough opponents St Mary's, and Men's Rugby 1st lost against Brighton 11-31.
Women's Football managed to draw 3-3 against Canterbury and the Women's Hockey team had a great win against Royal Vets, beating them 2-1 at Bisham Abbey.
However, the fixture on everybody's mind was the Women's Basketball Cup Final. It was held at home, which meant we had a great number of supporters packing out the Bucks Events Hall. Bucks were playing Sussex - a team we had played previously this season, but only by one point!
The match was close from the very beginning. Bucks were behind 18-23 after the first quarter but managed to close the gap during the second quarter to make the half-time score 41-42. BNU Dance gave the spectators an impressive performance of their currently unbeaten Street routine, which helped to get the crowd going. The Bucks girls drew some strength from the crowd and clawed their way to a 65-53 lead during the third quarter. Bucks managed to hold their nerves under the pressure and they sailed to an 84-67 win!
Bucks Women's Basketball are now two-time Conference Cup winners. Along with bragging rights, this win earns them 20 BUCS points which will contribute a great deal to our BUCS University League table position. The team definitely deserve their title - they have worked so hard this season and Bucks Students' Union are very proud of them.
We only have two more League fixture Wednesdays until Varsity. I hope you've all bought your tickets...
