Sabb update: Freshers' Fortnight round-up!

Freshers’ Fortnight! What a couple of weeks it’s been! We had over 1,000 sign-ups across sports teams, societies and Sport for Fun, over 750 sign-ups for developmental activities, over 300 votes on our RAG charities, 40 amazing freshers' helpers, 14 brilliant nights in The Venue, nine welcomes talks and three very tired Sabbatical Officers.

We saw so many innovative stalls this year at Freshers' Fair. The Aviation Society really went above and beyond, it’s so lovely to see people so passionate. Men’s Football had a great turn out at trials and have successfully recruited four teams.

We have loved meetings all of you, new and existing. The summer was a quiet(ish) period for us and now having students around makes the campuses have such a buzz. It is also so lovely to see everyone settling into the Bucks family so well. It can be a scary prospect coming to university or even coming back to uni after a long summer, so to see everyone so happy, it means we must be doing something right.

Now the real fun starts. Settling into your courses, learning new things, developing new skills. We now commence Give it a Go Week. A week packed full of different activities we offer, sports, volunteering, recreational sessions and hobby-based societies.

We had our first Union Council with a great turn out and the election of Patricia as our Union Council Chair. This is a great opportunity for us to share with you our ideas and update you all on what we’ve been up to.

We are all looking forward to our new and returning students getting involved within the Union this year. We have so much coming up and can’t wait to share it all with you.

If you see us around campus stop and say hi or come down to our offices for a chat.
