This Wednesday had some exciting league deciders, unexpected wins and plenty of close games. Just one week before Varsity, out of the 12 teams that went out to play we had a brilliant 50% win rate!

Firstly, the Men's Football 1sts played Brighton at home and with it being the final game of the season the boys were happy with a 4-2 win! The Men's Football 2s returned from Portsmouth with another win of 1-0. Stay tuned to find out if the 2s retain their place in their league. Women's Football had another close game against LSE (the team top in their league), but unfortunately, due to not having enough subs, lost 0-2. Man of the match for the girls goes to Holly Hussey-Burd.

Women's Volleyball travelled just down the road to Brunel for an exciting game. After the Umpire threatened to finish the game early at a draw, our coach stepped in to argue. And lucky he did, as we managed to come back with a 3-2 win! Men's Volleyball weren't as fortunate travelling to East London and came home with a loss of 0-3.

Our Men's Hockey went in to play Surrey apprehensively due to having lost to them previously 20-0. However, they played much better this time and although they still lost, a 6-0 loss is far easier to swallow! The women's Hockey had an important game vs Brunel 2nds, this game needed to be won for them to be in a chance of winning the league. Brunel played a few players from their 1st team but that still didn't put our girls off and they still smashed them with a 5-4 win!

Our Men's Badminton travelled to St Mary's and had their first win of the season! Better late than never! A great win of 6-2, the man of the match went to Schawn Monteiro. Unfortunately, the girls weren't so lucky against Herts with a 3-6 loss. Man of the match for the girls: Chloe Belton.

Men and Women Basketball travelled down to Sussex together. The Men's team were struggling to get a team together beforehand but after scrounging some last minute players they managed to take 6 players. Unfortunately, they lost 46-82. For the Women's team, after a devastating loss last week in the Cup Final, this game was all or nothing! They needed to beat Sussex to win the league. Amazingly, with half the squad injured, they managed to win 76-46! Our girls have smashed it all season and what a great way to end with winning the league!

Well done to everyone who played and let's carry this great winning streak over to next week at Varsity!
