Our mission here at Bucks is about making life better for students at BNU. And that includes students at our Uxbridge campus.
If you are returning after the break or you are just starting your BNU experience, welcome to your Students’ Union (SU).
You can find us (Bucks Students’ Union) at the Uxbridge campus on the First Floor, around the corner from Pulse café (there is a blackboard opposite our office door). You can also find us online https://www.bucksstudentsunion.org/ , and on our socials.
Our mission here at Bucks is about making life better for students at BNU. By being a student of BNU you are automatically a member of Bucks Students’ Union. As a student you have access to some pretty cool opportunities, all for free, thanks to The Big Deal!
The Big Deal offers members, such as yourself, access to a diverse range of activities to enrich your university experience. These range from training and development sessions, to social activities, to recreational activities, rewarded student reps, societies, clubs, and sports.
During the week at Uxbridge activities can run during break hours (11:30 – 3pm). Keep an eye out for the posters around the campus during the days and weeks, as these will show dates, times, and locations, and most importantly what the activity is. Keep an eye out in Pulse (the café) to see if there are any activities happening that day.

These activities are designed to give you an opportunity to socialise with others (whether it’s individuals on your course, or the person you share a bus ride with). They are also designed so you can ask questions about your SU and talk to the people who can help raise your voice. You can also meet me (Bethany) and talk to me about your experiences, tell me how your day went or just someone to sit and play scrabble with.
You can also purchase university and union merchandise during this week in person. You can also purchase online [insert link to merch] but on Wednesday 8th January and Thursday 9th January, you can buy your merchandise from the Uxbridge campus. There will be a stall where you can purchase your merchandise (please be aware we are cashless).
Keep an eye on the What’s On Board opposite the Students’ Union office, as well as the notice boards around the campus to see what activities are happening in the coming weeks.
Did you know you can also check the Students’ Union What’s On page to see the activities too! https://www.bucksstudentsunion.org/whatson/ Here you can see what activities there are and sign up. You can see the night-time events, training, and additional skills sessions, volunteering and more!
Campus to campus free shuttle bus
We offer a campus link service between the High Wycombe and Uxbridge campuses so you can travel between campuses. You can find the campus link timetable here https://www.bucksstudentsunion.org/union/transport/campuslink/ . You could use this service to pop over to the High Wycombe campus on the Thursday 16th January to check out the Refreshers Fair.
Refreshers Fair is an opportunity to see the what the Students’ Union’s departments, clubs, and societies, university teams and external stall holders have on offer. This is an opportunity to explore, ask questions and discover more about your Students’ Union and University. You can find more information about the event here https://www.bucksstudentsunion.org/ents/event/9858/
Have a look through our website, social media and have an explore of the campus. See what opportunities you can get involved with and have a look around the local area as well. Did you know the Uxbridge campus is situated near the Grand Union Canal; you could spend some time walking along the tow path.
I have posted a virtual tour of the Uxbridge campus you can find that here [insert link to Instagram video]. You can also check my Instagram (@buckssuvpew_au) to see what activities are on and where to find them. I also share the wider news of the Students’ Union here too.
If you have any concerns or need support, we also have our free to use Advice Centre. You can receive support in areas of academic, finical, accommodation, and personal needs.
I hope you enjoy your time studying at BNU and hope we can support your experience from Bucks Students’ Union.
If you have any questions, queries or concerns, you can contact Union@bnu.ac.uk or Bethany.jackson@bnu.ac.uk for support or to answer any questions.
