American Football

Welcome to the BNU Buccaneers website, here we can fill you in on everything about the team that you need to know! The Buckinghamshire New University American Football team is going into its 10th season and we at the club believe that our 10-year anniversary will mark the biggest and best in the club's history! We hold two practice sessions per week on Tuesday’s from 7pm-10pm, as well as Thursday’s between 6pm-8pm. These sessions are mixed between scrimmages and individual skills development, which take place on a state of the art 3G artificial surface. Our games are played on Sundays throughout the season and would last for most of the day (If players plan to work on these days throughout the academic year, then be sure to contact one of the Committee members to find out which dates would need to be booked off for games).

Transport to practices and games will be provided from the university campus, however if players wish to make their own way to venues, then this is welcomed. The Buccaneers aim to have a squad minimum of 25 members this season, with aspirations of expanding further and adding numbers to our roster for the future. We are looking to accept any individuals who have previously played the sport, as well as new players who would like to develop a passion for the game with us. #IMIN

We have a rich social calendar planned for the 2018/19 season with many themes to be expected and enjoyed, as well as collaborations with other University Clubs! These socials will be organised weekly on Wednesday nights, with our Sunday evening socials being our Sober socials.

Awards & Achievements

The Buccaneers won the ‘Club of the Year’ award from the Athletics’ Union at the end of the 2014/15 season for our success with club accreditation. We currently compete in the South 2A division, in which we plan to strive for a winning season this year. Here on the Buccaneers proverbial pirate ship, we have a small team so any Freshers that join can expect more game time than would get with other Universities. With recent recognition coming in for our new Chairman Lewis Taylor, who receivied the ‘Fresher of the Year Award’ for 2017/18, we are expecting big things moving forward which will lift the club to new heights!
