Supporting You At BNU
Hi, I’m Dan, a Master’s Filmmaking student in my fourth year at the university. I’ve been the Chair of the Men’s Hockey team for 2 years and been involved with the SU in many ways since I started. I have been involved with multiple clubs, societies, and volunteering opportunities provided by the Union, receiving the platinum award for over 400 volunteering hours logged!
I am running for VPEW (HW) to ensure that everyone at the university receives the highest quality of support possible, both academically, and for their wellbeing. My target is to both reflect on my own personal time here, as well as building on feedback from the student community, to build the best possible experience and to allow students to have a voice in the direction of their education. I am also a huge advocate for mental health awareness and wellbeing, so I intend to be around as a friendly face for people to feel able to discuss any issues they may have.
As your VPEW, my aims are:
- Aim to tackle loneliness within the university, creating a space to allow people to sit and chat, also starting up regular walk and talk sessions for students.
- Work with the VPAB and the sports clinic, to increase the level of support to students struggling with their mental wellbeing after suffering an injury.
- Pressure the university to ensure that courses shaped around practicality, in terms of location and ensuring that the content being learnt is also relevant to their future job prospects.
- Focus on improving the safety of High Wycombe for students, at nighttime especially, working with the university to create a known safe space in the town.
I want everyone to have the education and support they deserve, so I hope you vote me for VPEW!
