I'm Joa, and I'm standing for Student Trustee because student representation matters most when it is fair, informed, and genuinely connected to students’ real experiences. A strong university community depends on students being heard at every level, and I am committed to ensuring that student voices are represented across the entire University.

As the current Course Representative for my Global Security BSc, I have witnessed first-hand the power of efficient communication between students, staff, and the Students’ Union. I believe that effective student representation is crucial, and I take this responsibility seriously. It is a matter of accurately representing students, clearly communicating our feedback, and ensuring that our concerns and aspirations are addressed. Having gained this insight and experience from being a course rep, I can continue to do so in the role of Student Trustee.

To me, a Student Trustee is a voice of the students and guarantor of our experiences throughout the university. It is a matter of ensuring that decisions are made carefully, fairly, and clearly in the interests of students, regardless of their course or year of study.

If elected, I will emphasise the importance of open communication between the elected officers, trustees, and Students' Union, strong decision-making, and accountability. My vision is to ensure that students feel informed and involved in the process of governance. For this reason, I will keep the student body well-informed of all discussions, deliberations and work towards actionable and exciting progress.

As your Student Trustee, you will gain a responsible, reliable and approachable member of the board. I'll ensure that every meeting keeps the quality of the student experience at the forefront of all plans and developments. Above all, I will be dedicated and determined to represent every student voice with integrity.
