Julia Wiatrowska
Your Education. Your Welfare. Your Voice
My name is Julia, and I am standing for Vice President Education & Welfare because students deserve to feel supported, heard, and fairly represented throughout their time at Bucks.
As Bar Supervisor at the Venue/The Lounge, I interact with students every day from a range of courses and backgrounds. Through these conversations, I have listened to common concerns around academic pressure, mental health support, assessment fairness, and balancing finances with studies. Alongside this, I am part of the Leadership Academy, where I have developed my confidence, communication, and decision-making skills. These experiences have given me a strong understanding of student life and prepared me to take on responsibility and represent others effectively.
My first priority will be improving the academic experience, because strong academic support is essential for student wellbeing and mental health. I will strengthen the course representative system by introducing regular check-ins with reps, termly student surveys, and open forums where students can raise concerns directly. By the end of my term, I will take key issues to university committees and push for improvements in teaching quality, assessment fairness, feedback turnaround times, and academic processes such as appeals and mitigating circumstances.
My second priority is student welfare and mental health. I will work closely with the Advice Centre to actively promote mental health and welfare support. Within my first term, I am to improve awareness of support services through targeted campaigns so students know where to go for help and feel confident and comfortable accessing support.
Finally, I will be a visible and approachable student voice. From the start of my role, I will regularly engage with students on campus and provide clear updates on progress, ensuring students can see real outcomes from raising concerns.
Vote Julia—for better education, stronger welfare, and a student voice that delivers.
