Belonging First. Achievement For Every Student!
My name is Ruth Bitichi, and I am standing for Vice President Achievement and Belonging because I want every student at Bucks to feel valued, included, and supported to succeed.
As an international student, I understand how challenging it can be to settle into a new academic environment, adjust to a different culture, and navigate university systems while working toward personal and professional goals.
Through conversations with students across different courses, campuses, and backgrounds, I have learned that many feel disconnected from opportunities, unsure how to get involved, or uncertain about how their university experience links to their future.
My involvement as a Freshers Helper and as a member of the Leadership Academy has shown me the importance of strong student led communities. When students feel welcomed and represented, they are more confident to participate, lead, and grow.
If elected, I will work to strengthen equality, diversity, and inclusion across the Students Union, ensuring student voices are listened to and reflected in decision making.
Achievement goes beyond grades. I will focus on expanding opportunities within societies, sports, volunteering, and student led projects that help students build confidence, leadership, and employability skills. I will also work to improve communication so students clearlyunderstand what opportunities are available and how to access them.
Sustainability and community impact are also important to me. I will support student involvement in green initiatives and projects that positively impact both campus life and the wider community.
If elected, I will be an approachable, accountable, and committed representative. I will listen to students, work collaboratively with the University and Students Union, and hold the institution accountable to its promises. My goal is to help build a Students Union where achievement and belonging go hand in hand, and where every student feels empowered to thrive at Bucks.
