The Task:

Clearing lots and lots of excess vegetation! Join us for this essential conservation task, giving the chalk grassland much needed breathing space so wildflowers can grow providing a welcoming habitat to different species.

The larger trees we cut down are normally turned into log piles. These are perfect sanctuary for small mammals like hedgehogs & voles, reptiles including slow worms & common lizard and invertebrates such as beetles.

No experience necessary just a desire to make a difference.

Timings (please note these timings are approximate):

10.00: Arrival for safety briefing, please don't be late!

11.30: Tea & coffee break

13.00: Lunch time, please bring your own

15.30: Work finishes, time to go home, thanks so much for your help!

What to Bring:

Please bring your gloves (we will have spares) and dress for the weather and the task.

Long trousers are advisable as there may be ticks and thorny vegetation. We also recommend wearing steel toe capped or sturdy boots rather than trainers.

Wear layers that you can remove if you get hot whilst working. Bring a waterproof as most of our sites have no shelter from the rain. If it's sunny you may need a hat and suncream.

Please bring a plenty of fluids and a packed lunch. We will bring a tea kit and biscuits.

Please note:

Biscuits are served at all Chiltern Rangers sessions. Please advise if you have an allergy.

Sometimes there is a need for us to use power tools that can be noisy.
