Description: 

Join us for an inspiring and empowering International Women’s Day programme: Give to Gain for our students, organised by Bucks Students' Union. Through expert-led talks and interactive activities, students will gain practical knowledge, inspiration, and the tools needed to explore diverse career paths and strengthen their personal and professional voices.

  • 10.00 – 10.30

The morning will begin with registration, coffee, refreshments, and goody bags, followed by a warm welcome and short induction to set the tone for a day focused on confidence, ambition, and opportunity.

  • 10.30 – 11.30

Guest speaker: Emma Torrence - Adaptive Entrepreneurial Journeys! Can a zig-zag journey lead to a fulfilling & successful entrepreneurial career?
The session will explore the value of non-linear career paths and how varied experiences can shape a successful entrepreneurial journey. Drawing on her own story, she will discuss how common zig-zag pathways are in the UK, share key lessons learned, and offer practical tips to help students navigate uncertainty and make informed, confident career choices.

  • 11.30 - 12.00

Interactive session & small break

  • 12.00 - 13.00

Guest Speaker: Kelly Gilloran - Resilience, Science of Confidence, Persuasive Speaking
The session will explore the science of confidence, persuasive communication, and public speaking, with an emphasis on resilience and the role of women in business and leadership. Students will gain practical, transferable strategies to strengthen their confidence, communicate with impact, and apply these skills across any academic or career pathway.

  • 13.00 – 13.15

Closing & giveaway

  • 13.15 - 14.00

The programme will conclude with lunch. Students who are fasting will be provided takeaway boxes to take home, if they would like.

 

This engaging event aims to celebrate women’s achievements, build confidence, and equip students with practical skills and inspiration for their future careers.
