Description:
This Career Ready workshop is designed to prepare students for a career fair by strengthening three areas recruiters notice first:
- Relevant skills
- Professional presence
- A portfolio that holds up under scrutiny
The session blends short teaching segments with hands-on practice so students leave with a working pitch and a portfolio checklist they can act on immediately.
Session Objectives
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify the skills gaps most likely to hold them back with recruiters, and where to close them quickly
- Deliver a confident, structured self-introduction (the "elevator pitch")
- Understand how presence — body language, tone, first impressions — shapes recruiter perception
- Build or refine a portfolio/resume tailored to a career fair settin
- Give and receive structured peer feedback on their pitch and materials
