We are looking for reliable and hardworking staff to join our team at Ambala Sweet Store. Role summary:

  • Able to deliver an efficient and friendly service to customers at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing the shop before opening
  • Sweet packing & preparation
  • Monitor ovens during the baking process
  • Pick and pack customer orders with accuracy
  • Support merchandising by organising products on shelves and ensuring displays are neat and appealing
  • Upsell products where appropriate to maximise sales opportunities
  • Basket gift wrapping
  • Answering the phone
  • Receive, check, and organise incoming deliveries
  • Perform regular stock counts and report any discrepancies
  • Lift and carry boxes/trays safely
  • Maintain compliance with food safety regulations and quality standards
  • End of day full store cleaning, including mopping the floor
  • Working independently to maintain health & safety and cleanliness across the store
  • Work additional hours when necessary during peak times

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Asian sweets
  • Basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately.
  • Able to manage card payments and EPOS system
  • Computer literate
  • Friendly and polite with customers
  • Willingness to learn
  • Punctual, responsible, and able to work independently
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when interacting via telephone or other communication channels
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in south asian language is desirable. Bilingual abilities are considered a significant asset for serving our diverse customer base

Positions Available:

  • Must be flexible with hours and able to work weekends, bank holidays, festive seasons

Work location: In person

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Zero hours contract

Pay: From £12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 30 per week
