Launched in October 2014, Arlo & Jacob (www.arloandjacob.com) offers beautifully designed sofas, armchairs, footstools and living room accessories. With a collection that ranges from contemporary to classic, our sofas are perfect for sleeping, slouching, making a fort or building a life. Each piece is made to order and crafted using traditional methods at our very own factory in Long Eaton, which has over 90 years experience making upholstered furniture.


Our new Marlow showroom is located in a prominent corner site in Spittal Street, with great adjacent retailers. The showroom style reflects our ethos “to provide the stage to capture all life’s moments” and has the feel of home from home as well as being a truly inspirational setting for our furniture. We know that buying a quality piece of furniture can be an emotional purchase so we want our customers to feel comfortable and relaxed when they visit Arlo & Jacob. As if they were at home.


Arlo & Jacob are now looking to build our core Marlow retail team with highly motivated individuals for customer facing roles. We’re looking for people who love great design, will be passionate about building our brand and will add the buzz and energy to their new A&J showroom. They will be the enablers of comfort through every step of the sofa buying process.


Salaries and bonuses will of course be competitive, but also the working environment is fun, informal and with the unique opportunity to be in something big at the beginning.


A&J Sales & Design Consultant, Marlow, Permanent

  • The Sales & Design Consultant will be the face and voice of Arlo & Jacob to the customer. Strong interpersonal skills, great telephone manner and boundless enthusiasm for helping the customer are the key qualities for this role.
  • Through great customer service and detailed product knowledge the Sales & Design Consultant will play their part in achieving the overall revenue targets and will consequently earn a team bonus.
  • They will make the customer feel at home with a good coffee and will guide them towards the design and fabric which are perfect for their home. On the telephone, via email and social media channels the Sales & Design Consultant will attend to customer queries, building customer relationships that will result in repeat orders and referrals.
  • Problem resolution is another key quality and when the unexpected happens the Sales & Design Consultant will find a solution with skill and tact to ensure the customer ends up happy. Liaising with our Long Eaton factory to configure special orders and with our logistics partner to ensure trouble-free delivery will be part of the day to day.
  • A keen interest in interiors and/or design will be a requirement. The Sales & Design Consultant will be part of a small team with big ambitions to have the best-made most beautifully designed sofas available online and instore. Input from everyone about product direction is expected and valued.
  • The role will require weekend and evening working as part of a retail rota system.
