Hello everyone, I’m Bethany. I am happy to introduce (or reintroduce) myself as your Vice President Education and Welfare (Uxbridge and Aylesbury) for 25-26 academic year.

I have continued the work we did last year and got stuck in with new projects and planning, with the elected officer team! Keep your eyes peeled on the What’s On page, newspapers and socials to catch the latest!

I’m most excited to be continuing the work we achieved last year and ensuring that we continue taking the big, key strides for your student experience! This role is like no other and I want to continue ensuring that we can work to provide the experience you’re looking for! From supporting you with anything Education related, such as course concerns, feedback, or representation I’m here to support you! I’m also looking after anything welfare related, such as supporting you through signposting to services, like our confidential Advice Centre, or running campaigns, activities and more, ensuring that you get the support you need whilst you’re studying at BNU.

I have set out 3 priorities for the year ahead but these vary with different plans going forward.

My priorities are:

  • Campus consistency – ensuring that provision across all campuses is consistent with each other (e.g. resources, facilities etc.). This would include things such as library, quiet spaces, recreational spaces, seating, and food heating facilities.
  • Wellbeing and mental health advocacy and events – signposting to support services and the continued work on quiet spaces. There have been some ongoing projects with continued development and progress being made in regard to quiet spaces. I would also continue to strengthen the visibility and accessibility of the on-campus services.
  • Academic experience – ensuring the service students receive is what is expected. This covers support available, academic integrity guidance, support and consistency, opportunities, and communication across all levels.

A few of the plans I have for the upcoming year have been carried across from the previous year. This includes work on the Uxbridge quiet space, catering facilities at Aylesbury and continued development activity provision across these campuses.

Keep an eye on the website, newspaper, and our socials to keep up to date with the latest, and if you have any questions, please get in contact.

Here’s to a great year!
