It’s that time of year to say goodbye.
It has been an absolute pleasure to be your Vice President Education & Welfare (Uxbridge & Aylesbury), these past few years. It’s been an honour to represent, raise your voice and work to make life better for students at Bucks.
Through your tenacity, encouragement, and enjoyment, we’ve been able to make some pretty inspiring changes happen – all to improve your student experience.
Just a couple of highlights from this year (if you want to see my first year highlights head back to last year or here):
None of these could’ve been achieved without your continuous support and feedback about how to make your experience better. Please keep raising your voice!
(If you want the full month by month breakdown, head back and check out each of the monthly updates!)
Being an officer is truly a rewarding experience. Yes sometimes there’s the tough days, sometimes it feels like all your doing is pointing out the bad or you’re sending another email chasing about a timetable, or the temperature in the room, but it’s the days where you’ve received an email that yes, we can have another microwave or they’ve sorted out temperature controls, added plug sockets. It’s the being able to walk around a campus and say hello to you. It’s handing out a free breakfast, asking how your commute was and how your kids are. It’s the conversations and celebrating all the wins.
There isn’t another role quite like it. Thank you all for making this journey incredible and for trusting me to represent you for 2 consecutive years and for being your final VPEW (Uxb/Ays) and welcoming the Vice President Student Affairs & Campus Experience (VPSACE) title.
Thank you to all the students, and staff who’ve supported me across my entire Bucks Journey. You are truly special.
Warm wishes to your new elected officer team for 2026/27. I know that Feba, Julia, Jimmy and Akil, will do an incredible job moving forward!
All the best everyone’s next steps and adventures. Enjoy every moment!
It’s been an honour.
Over and out, Bethany. 😉
