Student volunteers from Bucks Students’ Union are once again supporting the Royal British Legion’s annual Poppy Appeal, helping to raise vital funds in High Wycombe town centre ahead of Remembrance Sunday.
The students, who are studying at Buckinghamshire New University, are giving up their time to sell poppies and collect donations from members of the public, supporting the charity’s work with serving and former members of the Armed Forces and their families.
The annual volunteering initiative provides students with an opportunity to give back to their local community while supporting a cause that holds significance for people across the country.
Kelly Wiles, Activities Coordinator (Volunteering & Charitable Fundraising) at Bucks Students’ Union, explains:
“It’s wonderful to see our students getting involved in the Poppy Appeal once again. Volunteering is such an important part of what we do at Bucks Students’ Union, and this is a fantastic opportunity for students to make a positive contribution to the local community.
“We’re really proud of everyone who gives up their time to support the appeal, and we’re grateful to the people of High Wycombe for their generosity and support.”
The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal takes place each autumn, raising funds to provide lifelong support to the Armed Forces community.
Through its volunteering programme, Bucks Students’ Union encourages students to develop new skills, meet people and make a meaningful difference to the communities around them.
