Whether you’re thinking of standing as a candidate or simply getting ready to vote, here’s what’s changing this year.

Bucks Students’ Union Elections are back for 2026, and we’re making a few important updates to help ensure the process is clear, fair, and accessible for students across all our campuses.

Whether you’re thinking of standing as a candidate or simply getting ready to vote, here’s what’s changing this year.

A new name for an existing officer role

First, we’ve updated the name of one of our Elected Officer positions. The role previously known as Vice President Education and Welfare (Uxbridge & Aylesbury) is now called Vice President Student Affairs and Campus Experience (VPSACE).

It's the same role with the same purpose: representing students across our campuses and enhancing your experience. The new name more accurately reflects the full scope of responsibilities.

One candidacy per Elected Officer election

For 2026, we’re introducing a new rule: you can only stand for one Elected Officer position.

This change is designed to help candidates focus their time and energy on the role they’re most passionate about, and to create a clearer, more balanced election for students choosing who they want to represent them.

If you’re considering running, take a moment to decide which position you feel best placed to lead, and go all in on that campaign.

Improving accessibility for voters

If you need voting information in an accessible format, for example, large text or dyslexia-friendly screens, we’ll look to provide it. Just contact us, and we’ll make sure you have what you need to take part.

Extra support for international students who stand

For successful candidates, financial support towards the cost of visas and the health surcharge fee may be available, where applicable. This is about supporting more of our members to participate and ensuring our officer team can better reflect the diverse student community we represent.

Earlier voting for Nottingham students

We know not all students study Monday to Friday, and that’s especially true for our members in Nottingham who study at the weekend.

That’s why in-person voting in Nottingham will open earlier, on Saturday 28 February, to support weekend learners. Voting for all other campuses and online will open as normal on Monday 2 March.

Nominations close at midday on Friday 13 February.
