My name is Jean Marc also known as (Jimmy), and I am pleased to introduce myself as the new President of the Bucks Students' Union. It is an honour to take on this responsibility, and I have been absolutely humbled by the incredible support and generosity I have received from the entire SU team and the larger BNU community.
I've gotten started right away since taking office. Along with my other elected leaders, I've been proactively involved, attending meetings, and participating completely in the year's planning, direction and ensuring your perspectives are heard at all levels. Every day has been filled with enthusiasm, understanding, and ambition.
What excites me the most about this position is the ability to genuinely make a difference. I'm passionate about motivating students, promoting equality, and establishing a welcoming and exciting campus environment in which everyone feels included. This year, we'll build on the incredible work we've already done and aim for even greater impact. I can't wait to see what we can accomplish together!
Focus Areas for the Year
As President of Bucks Students' Union, my responsibility is to guarantee that our members, the BNU students, have the experience they deserve. I strive to preserve a healthy connection between the University and the Union, serving as a crucial friend to the institution. Additionally, I chair our Trustee Board, sit on the University’s governing body, and engage with the broader higher education sector.
Here are some of the key areas I’ll be focusing on this year:
- Promoting safety awareness: conduct safety week initiatives, collaboratively organised by the Students’ Union, addressing both physical and digital safety.
- Transparent policy dialogue: promote open dialogue between students and administration regarding policy changes.
- Mental health awareness workshops: train students to recognise early signs of mental health struggles and seek help.
While these are my current objectives, I am committed to remaining flexible and responsive, ready to tackle any new issues or ideas that are important to you.
I'm enthusiastic about this year and what we can accomplish together. Please do not hesitate to say hi, share your thoughts, or get involved. Let's make this academic year memorable!
Jean Marc (Jimmy)
