Meet your Movember Ambassador

Every year we support the Movember campaign for men's mental health which this year, will be led by your Movember Ambassador, Ratu. So, without further ado, let's meet him!

Hi, I'm Ratu a second year Accounting and Finance student and this year’s Movember Ambassador. After participating in Movember last year, I was determined to make this year's fundraiser the most successful one yet. The team at the Students’ Union was very open to my ideas when I presented them just before September. However, I have been astonished by the positive response of everyone I’m working with.

I've reviewed several talks about what Movember means to me over the past few months and I have come to the conclusion that this year, more than ever, it's crucial to raise awareness of men's mental as well as physical health. My involvement with Movember has strengthened the idea that it's important to express your emotions in public. You should never discount your own, or anyone else's, emotions. It's okay to occasionally not feel okay, but always talk about it. Always be friendly to people because you never know how much it will affect their lives.

Movember is most known for growing a moustache or beard over the month of November, so on Monday 31 October we are holding a shave down! A chance for students and staff to shave their mo's, beards, legs, chests, or backs and get ready for 30 days of pure hairiness in the name of men's health. Whether you're planning on shaving down or just wish to support the cause, come on down to The Lounge for a hairy night of fun.

We'll be collecting donations on the night so, if you feel you want to shave down or just help by donating, head over to our fundraising page and join our team. We need as much support as we can get with this campaign so I hope you will all get involved.
