Social spaces we can be proud of….
Over the years, our bars and nightclub have transformed into multi-purpose, safe and inclusive social spaces used as often for training events, fundraisers, teaching, cultural celebrations, society activity, community dining and cost-of-living support as they are for live music, club nights and cabaret. We’re really pleased with how we have adapted to meet the changing needs of our student body.
It’s increasingly important that students have somewhere they can call their own and be themselves, socialising with peers where they feel at home - we need to protect and invest in those spaces.
Imaginatively named, ‘The Venue', 'The Lounge' and 'The Kitchen' are the most intensively used spaces on campus and are at the centre of social life at the University, welcoming our members from right across our incredible community with an increasingly diverse and complex programme of events, activity and support. This is all possible thanks to the unique Big Deal, which affords us the resource to plan and deliver a calendar of activity far larger universities would be thrilled to see on their campuses.
We are lucky enough to have a team, and space, that works dynamically across seven days a week, often accommodating several different events on any given day.
Over the summer we gave the facilities the love and care they needed to keep serving the growing demand and we really appreciate the support the University and our Estates team have given us over the last 12 months.
The team have made this great little video to help showcase the improvements, with thanks to White Lizard Productions.
