SU SOUTHERN CONFERENCE

The Southern Students’ Union Conference was a great experience, bringing together 29 Students’ Unions! It was amazing to meet and connect with so many different officers, share ideas and hear about what other Students’ Unions are doing for their students. It was a brilliant opportunity to learn from each other and bring some new ideas back to Bucks!

USG/ SU INDUCTION

The USG/SU Induction was a great opportunity for the Students’ Union and University leadership to come together, get to know each other and build a strong working relationship for the year ahead. We shared our priorities, discussed how we can work together and made sure that students and their experiences remain at the heart of our work.

DEAN OF COLLEGES AND SU OFFICERS INTRODUCTION

The Dean of Colleges and SU Officers Introduction was a great chance for us to meet, get to know each other and talk about our priorities for the year ahead. It was also an opportunity to discuss how we can work together to support students, listen to their feedback and improve their university experience.

DIGITAL POVERTY STRATEGY GROUP

The Digital Poverty Strategy Group was a great opportunity to discuss the digital challenges students may face and how we can better support them. We looked at ways to make sure students have fair access to technology, online resources and the digital support they need to succeed at university.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT BURSARY

Great news! The International Student Bursary has finally been approved and will be going live in the next few weeks. This bursary will provide extra support for international students who may be facing unexpected financial difficulties. More information and communications will be shared as soon as possible, including how students can apply.

WELCOME TALKS

The Welcome Talks were a great opportunity to meet and welcome new students to Bucks! We introduced students to the Students’ Union, explained how we can support them throughout their university journey and highlighted all the exciting opportunities they can get involved in. It was great to see so many new faces and help students start their time at Bucks!

FRESHER FAIR

The Freshers’ Fair was an amazing way to welcome students to Bucks and show them everything the Students’ Union has to offer! Students had the chance to meet our societies, sports clubs and local organisations, discover new opportunities and find different ways to get involved in university life. It was great to see so many students getting involved and enjoying the day!

TURNINTIN UPDATE

We have raised concerns with the University about Turnitin and its proposed changes around the use of student work for AI training. Although these changes have currently been postponed, we want to make sure students understand what this could mean for their work and data. We will continue to represent students’ concerns and keep you updated on any developments.

COMMITTEE TRAINING

The Committee Training was a great opportunity to help our student committee members feel confident and ready for the year ahead. We covered their roles and responsibilities, how to support their members and how to make the most of their societies and sports clubs. It was great to see everyone getting involved and preparing for an exciting year!

GRADUATION

Graduation was an amazing opportunity to celebrate our students and everything they have achieved during their time at Bucks. It was great to see so many students celebrating with their friends, families and the wider Bucks community. A huge congratulations to all our graduates, and we wish you the very best for what comes next!

GYM UPDATE

Great news for our students! The Gateway Gym is now free to use, giving students another great way to stay active, look after their wellbeing and make the most of their time at Bucks. For more information about the gym and what’s available, check out the Bucks Students’ Union website.

UXBRIDGE CAR PARK

Unfortunately, due to other priorities, the University is still working towards making free car parking spaces available at Uxbridge. While it has taken longer than originally expected, we have been assured that this is still planned. We will continue to keep students updated as soon as we have more information.
