Turnitin Update

You may have heard about proposed changes to Turnitin’s terms of service, which raised concerns about whether student-submitted work could be used to help train AI services.

We understand why students may have questions about how their academic work is stored, used and protected, and we believe students should be kept informed about any changes that could affect their work.

Bucks Students’ Union has raised these concerns with Bucks New University and asked for clarification on what any future changes could mean for Bucks students.

Turnitin has confirmed that the proposed changes will not be introduced during the 2026–27 academic year.

We’ll continue to work with the University, keep an eye on any further developments and make sure the student voice is represented in conversations about Turnitin, AI and the use of student work.
