The Union Council meeting opened on 19th May 5pm with Union Council Chair Sameer Pathan, who welcomed everyone and began the session.

Updates were delivered by the elected officers and trustees, and Sameer congratulated them for their work throughout the year and the contributions they have made to the student community.

The meeting continued with the Summer Glow Up skills session, followed by the Hot Seat, where officers answered questions directly from students. In a standout moment, Union CEO Tristan Tipping stepped forward to take part in the Hot Seat, responding openly to questions raised by students and demonstrating the Union’s commitment to student voice. Sarah Jackson, Head of People, Bucks Students’ Union, also attended and offered her insights, adding further depth to the discussions.

The evening then moved into the Big SU Quiz, where student Paddy was declared the winner and received an SU goodie bag as a hamper. The meeting was, as usual, successful thanks to the continued efforts of the rep team, Lucy Ryan, Natasha Neal and Sarah Nawaz, whose support ensured the smooth running of the session. Before the prize draw, SP gave a tour of the key dates ahead, keeping students informed about upcoming opportunities and events.

The prize draw followed, with Asadullah selected as the winner. After the draw, outgoing Vice President for Education and Welfare Bethany Jackson congratulated Sameer for his work as Union Council Chair of the year, recognising his leadership and dedication as the meeting came to an end, with students encouraged to attend the upcoming Council meetings and continue shaping the student voice.
