Happy World BEE DAY!
Did you know there are more than 270 species of Bee’s in the UK?
Every year on May 20th, the world celebrates World Bee Day, an initiative established by the United Nations to raise awareness about the essential role of bees and other pollinators in keeping our ecosystems and food systems thriving.
Bees are crucial pollinators. They help fertilise plants, which in turn grow into the fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds we rely on every day. In fact, one-third of the food we eat depends on pollination. Without bees, not only would our diets suffer, but entire ecosystems would be thrown off balance.
How You Can Help the Bees
Plant bee-friendly flowers in your garden, balcony, or windowsill.
Avoid chemical pesticides and opt for natural solutions.
Provide clean water sources for bees to safely drink from.
Support local beekeepers by buying raw, local honey.
Create nesting spaces for solitary bees using bee hotels or bare patches of soil.
