Each year, elections are held for our three sabbatical officer positions. The three sabbatical positions are full-time and form our sabbatical team and help deliver the student experience that we are so passionate about.

Hey guys, gals and everybody else, my name is Ben Parmar and I’ll be your President for 2017-2018

Crazy to think that I’ve graduated with a First Class Degree in BA (Hons) Film and Television Production this September but the journey there has been a wild one. I gradually got more and more involved with the Union since I arrived at Bucks - In my first year, I was elected as the Student Rep for my course and peers; a role I managed to keep for the following two years. I also got involved with some of the extracurricular things the Union has to offer, most notably Bucksnowoc; which I became Treasurer of in my second year.

In hopes of taking my representation role further, I applied to be a Faculty Officer in my second year but was unsuccessful. This made me more determined to get involved and in my third year I reapplied for the role and got the job! But I didn’t stop there, alongside my final year studies I was a Head Freshers Helper, Student Trustee, Union Council Chair as well as being involved with many other aspects of the Union.

What I’m trying to say is getting involved with your Union, in whatever capacity you wish, will not only bring endless new levels of experience and enjoyment to your time as a student. It aids you in your studies and develops you as a person to ensure you become a well-rounded, successful, proud and employable graduate when your studies come to an end.

As your President, my door is always open to help you with whatever you need.

Priorities this year

 1. Be available to listen to students feedback and issues throughtout the year.

 2. Aid in restructing and improving our representation system.

 3. Encourage students to attend and engage with both academic sessions and activities on offer.

 4. Share my calendar and daily activity to allow the student body to best see what the role entails and be held accountable.
